This is a fetus on an MRI scan — and yeah, it looks pretty wild. Unlike ultrasounds, which use sound waves, MRI scans use powerful magnets and radio signals to create detailed images of the body. Since babies are made up mostly of water, areas like the eyes and brain appear especially bright in the scan. It may look creepy at first, but nothing unusual is happening. You’re simply seeing how MRI technology captures developing tissues inside the womb. Doctors sometimes use fetal MRIs later in pregnancy when they need a closer look at the baby’s brain or organs.
