Naturally, my mom called, as she always does, in the middle of my son and I moving furniture out the way of the contractors. Y’all know kids are always “hemming and hawing” in the background of our phone calls, and with me talking my to her on the Apple Watch and dealing with my son’s objections to helping, I guess I must’ve sounded in sheer distress.
