🐕 They risked everything to save a dog: ten years later, the world honored them with a statue In 2016, in Almaty, Kazakhstan, a dog became trapped along the smooth walls of the Sayran Reservoir, with no way to climb back out on its own. A young man decided to climb down to rescue it, but once he reached the animal, he realized he could no longer get back up, turning a spontaneous act of kindness into a real emergency within moments. At that point, other people nearby formed a human chain, holding onto one another to pull both the young man and the dog out of the reservoir. The video of the rescue spread around the world, being shared millions of times and becoming one of the most well-known symbols of spontaneous solidarity between strangers. Ten years later, on March 18, local authorities in Almaty unveiled a public sculpture at the same location recreating that scene.
