According to reports about the incident, the passenger alerted the crew after noticing the unusual movement. The Boeing completed the flight normally and underwent an inspection after landing. The airline later stated that the condition observed did not compromise the aircraft’s structural integrity or the safety of the flight. And here’s the important detail: what may visually appear to be a “loose screw” does not necessarily mean that a critical structural component is about to come off.
