writing this from an empty apartment overlooking my one and only, the Chrysler Building. I’m starting from a blank space, again. on me: a mattress, a Brita filter, and a California driver’s license. what a special feeling, saying goodbye to your old life! when I moved to LA in 2025, I didn’t know anyone. I never really liked LA. I always knew I belonged in a city like New York, not LA. and that’s what excited me - who could I become? how could I grow? before LA, I had been spoiled with friendships, events, and things to do. when I moved, I had nothing and no one. Friday and Saturday nights, I’d edit and play Catan on my iPad a year after I moved, it’s another Saturday. I have so many events to go to but I decide to go to none. I go to the gym, make a steak, edit and play Catan on my iPad at this point, I had attended every exclusive Coachella party, went to world premieres and gotten gettys - and didn’t even care to post them. instead, I posted videos about sparkling water. perhaps none of it ever mattered I envisaged staying here and getting a place in Santa Monica. I almost rescued a golden retriever named Missy. I thought about the life that would come with Missy: the walks in Santa Monica, the beach, the SUV to fit her in at one point, I found myself in that SUV, driving back from Trader Joe’s. I was looking at the empty back seat, thinking: is this really it? all that was left of LA for me to explore was suburban life still I wouldn’t have had it any other way. LA changed me: I used to hate jorts, but now I can’t stop wearing them. I learned to see people for who they are, and I really did become an LA person now I’m in New York, it’s 8am and this video is live - time to grab my pre-ordered cold brew from Starbucks Reserve. I am so behind, I’ll be emailing and texting people back while walking to Central Park. New Yorkers don’t ghost - even if the replies are rushed and as for Missy - she was a sweet 13-year-old rescue who ultimately spent her final golden months surrounded by love and people who knew how to give her the best possible care!
